Meter readings and replaced components disclosed on every machine.
Save 40 to 60 percent versus new. Serving metro Atlanta since 1996.
Refurbished copiers save 40 to 60 percent versus new. A $6,000 machine new runs $2,500 to $3,500 refurbished. A refurbished Ricoh or Konica mid-range under 500,000 copies with a one-year warranty runs $2,500 to $5,000, versus $8,000 to $12,000 new. Under 500,000 lifetime copies is reasonable on a mid-range unit. Over a million and you are buying somebody's problem.
We publish the meter reading and the list of replaced components on every unit we sell. Almost no dealer does this. It is the entire trust argument for buying used, and it costs nothing to disclose if the machines are actually good.
A machine wiped down and resold is not refurbished. It is a used copier with a clean exterior. Refurbished means the wear parts were replaced or inspected, the meter reading was disclosed, and the machine was tested under load before it went out the door.
Ask specifically whether the fuser, feed rollers, and developer were replaced or inspected. These are the three parts that decide whether a used machine runs for two years or six months. If the dealer cannot tell you what was replaced, it was not refurbished.
On every unit we sell, we disclose the meter reading and the list of replaced components before you buy. If we replaced the fuser, we tell you. If we inspected the feed rollers and they were within spec, we tell you that too. If we did not touch a part, we say so.
[PRO-TEC: models with meter readings and components replaced]. Every listing below includes the manufacturer, model, meter reading, list of replaced components, warranty terms, and price. If a machine is not listed, call us. Our inventory turns over weekly.
[PRO-TEC: warranty length, parts and labor coverage, loaner availability]. Every refurbished unit we sell comes with a written warranty. We service what we sell, and the warranty is ours, not a third party's. Ask for the terms before you buy, and we will put them in writing.
The FTC warns that data on copier hard drives "can be stolen from the hard drive, either by remote access or by extracting the data once the drive has been removed." A US healthcare company was fined $1.2 million after leased copiers were resold still holding health data on more than 300,000 people.
We sanitize or replace the hard drive on every refurbished unit we sell, and we document it in writing. This is not optional for medical and legal offices, and it should not be optional for anyone else either. If you are buying a used copier from a dealer who cannot document the drive sanitization, do not buy it.
High volume. A machine with 500,000 copies on it is reasonable for a mid-range unit. A machine with a million copies is somebody's problem, and no amount of refurbishing changes that. If your office runs 10,000 pages a month or more, buy new or lease.
When you need a capability the older generation does not have, particularly current network security and modern scan destinations. A machine running SMBv1 for scan-to-folder is a problem regardless of how well it prints. Pre-2015 machines on old firmware often cannot be brought onto a current network safely.
For most offices under 5,000 pages a month, a refurbished mid-range machine with a one-year warranty is the lowest total cost option. For the comparison against leasing, read our leasing vs buying analysis.
